About Stockwell, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Originally named Lauramie, Stockwell is a small community found in Indiana’s Tippecanoe County. Historically, the community was known for housing a stop on the Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Lafayette Railroad. The rail line was eventually removed, and now the area serves primarily as a residential community for about 550 residents. Most of the people who live in Stockwell commute into nearby West Lafayette or Lafayette, IN for work.

Stockwell itself is not home to any major businesses or attractions. Most residents drive into Lafayette in order to do their shopping, as Tippecanoe Mall is a popular destination, especially around the holidays. The Columbian Park Zoo is a top destination for families in the region, while visitors who prefer to spend time outdoors might like to check out the Lilly Nature Center. The area is also home to restaurants to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters, including Nine Irish Brothers, East and Grill, Mi Cabanita, and Folie, among others.

Stockwell lies within a humid continental climate zone, which is typical of the Upper Midwest. During the summer months, locals enjoy warm to hot temperatures combined with high humidity. While it is cooler than other parts of the U.S., muggy conditions can make it feel unbearably hot at times. In addition, severe weather with tornadoes is also possible during the spring and summer months. Residents need to take care by investing in the right central air conditioner to stay comfortable when conditions are unpleasant outdoors.

Winters in this portion of the U.S. tend to be cold with moderate snowfall. Daytime highs average in the 30s, but overnight lows often fall below freezing. When these frigid conditions couple with winter precipitation, then the weather can become quite dangerous. HVAC technicians recommend an investment in an energy-efficient, reliable furnace in order to stay comfortable and to prevent freeze-related home damage.
