About Otterbein, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Otterbein, Indiana is a town found in the Lafayette Metro Statistical Area. It extends in to portions of both Benton and Tippecanoe Counties, and it is home to approximately 1,300 people. Named for former landowner William Otterbein Brown, the community was originally laid out in 1872. The Benton Community School Corporation serves the town, and while younger students attend Otterbein Elementary, older children will complete their education at Benton Central Junior-Senior High School in Oxford.

While there aren’t any major attractions in Otterbein, there are some important businesses for locals. There are two restaurants here, the Otterbein Dugout and Pizza King, and residents who prefer to cook their own meals can stock up on groceries at Fellure Foods. Families enjoy a trip to the Otterbein Public Library with their children, and residents can ensure their cars are properly maintained at Rowe Truck Equipment or Kyburz Auto Center.

Otterbein is part of a humid continental climate zone. The weather here features four distinct seasons, so local residents typically invest in both heating and cooling systems. During the summer, the weather is hot and muggy. Average daily highs reach into the 80s, but high humidity levels can make it feel even warmer. An Energy Star central air conditioner will keep temperatures comfortable while improving indoor air quality – an important benefit for people with allergy issues or asthma.

Winter weather in Otterbein is cold with moderate snowfall, so it is important that residents are prepared well ahead of time. With daily highs only in the 30s and freezing overnight temperatures, it is crucial that residents have the right gas or electric furnace at home. It is recommended that homeowners use the more comfortable autumn months to service or upgrade their climate control systems. This way, they can ensure their comfort and safety regardless of how unpleasant conditions become outdoors.
