About Brookston, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Brookston, Indiana is a small town found in White County. Located within Prairie Township, Brookston was founded in 1835 and named for railroad official James Brooks. As of 2016, approximately 1,500 people called the community home, which was a slight decrease from the 2010 population. Brookston is 14 miles north of Lafayette, IN and 115 miles southeast of Chicago.

While there aren’t any major tourist destinations in Brookston, there are a few interesting places to visit and things to do. Each year, the town holds the annual Brookston Apple Popcorn Festival, which includes food, musical entertainment, vendors, and yard sales. Brookston is home to a few local restaurants like J & J Road House, Lickety Split, and Pizza King, as well as a Subway. There are also several specialty shops available in the area, including R & M Food Market, Family Express, Family Pantry, and the Little Old Candle Maker.

The Brookston area experiences varied weather patterns during the year. This is typical of a humid continental climate zone. Winters are cold and snowy, and daily highs reach the mid-30s. To stay warm, residents will need the right climate controls, but these systems can usually be switched off at the start of spring. From April to June, weather conditions are wet but warm and pleasant, and for a few months, residents may be able to turn off all climate controls at home.

After a rainy spring, summer begins in Brookston. This season is hot and humid, and July is the hottest month. Daily highs average in the upper-80s, and these uncomfortable conditions can extend well into September. It is important that residents invest in an energy-efficient and reliable air conditioner. Not only will this system keep indoor temperatures comfortable, but they also improve indoor air quality. This is especially beneficial for people who suffer from asthma and other respiratory conditions.
